Hi, I’m Teresa Protásio

I am a trauma-informed psychotherapist and practice founder with extensive experience supporting adults and families through grief, trauma, anxiety, depression, women’s health concerns, identity exploration, and major life transitions. I often work with individuals who feel stuck in patterns of emotional reactivity, overwhelm, or self-doubt and are seeking a more grounded, intentional way of living.

At the heart of my work is the belief that healing does not come from avoiding discomfort, but from learning how to be with it. In therapy, we create space to grieve what was painful, disappointing, or never received, while strengthening your ability to stay present rather than overwhelmed. Together, we work to separate past experiences from present moments so you can respond from a secure, grounded adult place instead of old survival patterns.

I believe psychotherapy should be a respectful, culturally responsive space where all parts of you are welcomed. I deeply value each client’s cultural background, lived experience, and identity as essential components of meaningful and lasting change.

Outside of the therapy room, I’m drawn to books and practices that support self-awareness, self-leadership, and intentional living. I often recommend Good Inside, The Mountain Is You, No Bad Parts, You Are the One You’ve Been Waiting For, and daily reflections inspired by The Daily Stoic.

My Approach

My approach is collaborative, relational, and trauma-informed. I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Rather than a one-size-fits-all model, I integrate these approaches thoughtfully based on your goals, history, and nervous system needs.

I am fluent in English, Portuguese, and Spanish, and I provide culturally responsive therapy across languages and identities. I offer trauma therapy and EMDR therapy for clients seeking deeper healing, greater emotional regulation, and a more aligned, authentic way of relating to themselves and their lives.
