Hi, I’m Richard Goggin

I bring over 30 years of clinical experience to my work, supporting individuals as they navigate life’s challenges with compassion, insight, and practical support.

I believe that the way we relate to our past, anticipate the future, and engage with the present has a profound impact on our well-being. In our work together, we focus on understanding and processing past experiences, easing anxieties about what lies ahead, and building the courage to live more fully in the present moment.

Outside of the therapy room, I enjoy spending time walking around Castle Island in South Boston, finding grounding and reflection in nature. I often recommend Team of Rivals: The Genius of Abraham Lincoln by Doris Kearns Goodwin for its insights into leadership, humanity, and resilience. I’m also deeply inspired by Brené Brown’s TED Talk, The Power of Vulnerability, which reflects values that are central to my work and my life.

My Approach

Over the years, I have helped many people who felt stuck or overwhelmed identify their needs and take meaningful steps toward a more balanced and fulfilling life. My background as a former chaplain and high school athletic coach has deeply shaped my therapeutic approach, offering a grounded, relational perspective rooted in encouragement and growth.

I believe that what is most personal is also most universal. We all share a common humanity and a desire for fulfillment and meaning in our lives. How we integrate our life experiences greatly influences our capacity to live fully. Through emotional vulnerability, we can begin to face life’s difficulties, reconnect with our true identity, and move beyond the limits imposed by fear and sadness.

I meet clients with empathy, steadiness, and a genuine commitment to their well-being. I look forward to walking alongside you as you work toward improving the quality of your life.
