The things that haunt us aren’t always monsters.

Sometimes they’re the thoughts we carry, the expectations we put on ourselves, and the ways we try to cope.

This Halloween, we’re opening the doors to a different kind of haunted house, one where the things that scare us are a little closer to home.

Explore. Learn. Connect. Take something with you.

Welcome to the House of What Haunts Us

This Halloween, Be Heard Psychotherapy is transforming our annual Open House into an immersive mental health experience.

Step inside and explore four themed rooms, each inspired by something that can quietly affect the way we think, feel, and relate to ourselves and others.

This isn’t a therapy session.
It isn’t a typical Halloween party.

It’s an evening designed to make conversations about mental health feel more approachable, more human, and maybe even a little fun.

What’s Inside?

Every room follows a simple idea:

LEARN

Discover a different perspective on a mental health experience.

DO

Try something practical, interactive, or reflective.

TAKE

Leave with a tool, reminder, or small practice you can continue using beyond the event.

Free • Space is limited • Surprises from our local partners

Why can saying “no” feel so uncomfortable?

In this room, we’ll explore people pleasing, boundaries, the fear of disappointing others, and the difference between being kind and abandoning your own needs.

You’ll have the chance to practice a different way of responding and leave with a reminder that setting a boundary doesn’t make you a bad person.

What happens when the goalpost keeps moving?

This room explores perfectionism, self-worth, performance, and the pressure to constantly do more, achieve more, or become better.

You’ll be invited to experiment with something that can feel surprisingly difficult: stopping before everything is perfect.

What if this happens?
What if that goes wrong?
What if I can’t control it?

Anxiety can make uncertainty feel like a problem we need to solve immediately.

In this room, we’ll explore “what if” thinking, uncertainty, and the difference between what we can control and what we can release.

Loneliness isn’t always about being physically alone.

Sometimes we can feel disconnected while surrounded by people.

This room explores connection, loneliness, asking for support, and the relationships that help us feel more like ourselves.

The evening will culminate in a special Be Heard Talks conversation with Tia DeVincenzo about calming your nervous system.

Be Heard Talks is our monthly conversation series bringing together mental health professionals, healthcare providers, and other experts to explore the topics that affect the way we live, connect, and care for ourselves.

This Is For You If…

You’re curious about mental health.

You’ve ever struggled to say no.

You’ve ever felt like you’re never doing enough.

You’ve ever felt lonely while surrounded by people.

You’ve ever found yourself stuck in a “what if?” loop.

You’ve spend your days caring for others, at home or at work, and could use a little care (and community) yourself.

Or maybe you simply want to spend an evening somewhere warm, welcoming, and a little different.

You don’t need to be in therapy to come.
You don’t need to have a mental health concern.
And you definitely don’t need to be scared.
